Shisu (シス Shisu?) is best known as Guts' adoptive mother. She was a minor member of a mercenary band, who taught Guts how to care for things.
Appearance
Shishu has presumably blue eyes and choppy blonde hair (similar to that of Casca's after the course of the Eclipse.)
Personality
She was said to have gone insane after having a miscarriage. However, she had a very kind heart, which is evident by her willingness to raise Guts as if he were her own son.
History
Golden Age Arc
Shisu was Gambino's lover and Guts' adoptive mother. She first encountered the recently born Guts who was underneath a withered tree of hanged bodies, covered in blood and mire. She took him in as her own to console her recent miscarriage. Although Gambino allowed her to do as she wished, he and his mercenary comrades regarded Guts as a bad omen.
When Guts turned three, Shisu was dying from a mysterious plague. Her final moments were holding onto Guts' right hand and calling out her son's name before she died. Gambino, despite his cold and arrogant personality, had deep affection for Shisu; her death fueled his anger towards Guts, who he blamed for the death of his lover.
