Hi there. Are blog entries like the one created by the user Eminzaman subjected to deletion? Entries like these could be seen as fanon contents of sorts, and using images that are kept elsewhere might not be a good idea.
As this is an encyclopedia, the goal is to contain the most
accurate episode title translations, NOT the most popular ones.
As such, many episode titles below do NOT match widespread translations.
However, I'm here to convince you that the officially published title translations should be used instead of what is deemed as the most accurate. Even if the current titles are more accurate than Dark Horse's titles, it doesn't help with SEO if the titles differ from them. For example, if one were to search on bing/google for "Berserk Flame Puppet" (The official title for Ep. 343), the currently named "Fire Doll" article does not pop up in search results. The only place referring to it as such right now as far as I can see is here. Perhaps a more accurate title is better left in a trivia section rather than as its headline?
Dark Horse translations are typically preferred, but they aren't an official arbiter by any means. The official names of subjects are the original Japanese names, from which translations are made. Dark Horse has gotten a notable amount of things wrong, and "they" is really only one individual I believe – Duane Johnson – who is no more an arbiter on translations than some notable translators in the greater Berserk fandom.
Many of those names differ because that Lua table was generated partly by matching against SkullKnight.net's manga episodes listing to get the original Young Animal release dates and issues of episodes. In doing so, it became clear that Dark Horse's is sometimes the inferior translation even with episode titles. The use of more accurate/appropriate episode translations here is no different than the wiki's use of "BotF" over "BotH", "beherit" over "behelit", etc.
"Flame Puppet" vs "Fire Doll" is one of the more negligible differences. See DH's "The Guardians of Desire", a complete omission of the angelic nature ascribed to the God Hand in 守護天使 (lit. "guardian angel", not just "guardian"). One of the worst offenses is episode 322, which DH gets quite wrong with "Booming Art". DH just hasn't gotten it right every time.
And in other cases, DH's translation is most accurate, and those have been kept over others.
Regarding SEO, I'm sure if we had the data, we'd see that most people search for episodes using "chapter N" searches (more convenient than typing out titles most times), in which case the wiki's "Episode N (Manga)" titles are suitable and show up in Google Search listings 2nd or 3rd, as episode 343 does upon searching "berserk chapter 343" (which is impressive considering the wiki's use of "episode" and every other result's use of "chapter").
Side note: Many articles (particularly "The") have also been removed where they aren't at all necessary (like in "The Guardians of Desire"). This is a reflection of Japanese's lack of articles.
Hello there. Someone has been editing the Zodd article for several days, adding a false claim. I just wanted to contact a staff member in case something needs to be done other than reversing (which I have done so far) the tidbit.
I did a quick look around, and what that anon keeps adding seems to be a generally agreed upon perception of "Nosferatu". I agree that it isn't true, as in there being no hard proof of the noted perception. I've locked the page as a cool down and messaged Mr Anon, as he doesn't seem to be a vandal.
Hello, I am a huge fan of the manga and show, and I am attempting to raise funds to build an accurate replica of the Dragonslayer for a college research/design project. Is there anywhere here in the wiki I could post a link so people could donate to my project?
You could create a Fandom account and post a blog entry, though I highly doubt it'll get the exposure you're hoping for. You might have better luck creating a Reddit account if you haven't already and posting to https://www.reddit.com/r/Berserk/, where your post will likely get much more exposure than it would here.
Hey, Recludam, I added all the relevant information that is available for Vol 40, but some weird text appears where the English ISBN is supposed to be written, even though I left it empty when adding all the info. I have no idea how to remove it or if it's supposed to be that way, so I wanted to bring it to your attention in any case.
