The Magic in the Berserk universe is casted generally by Witches and Wizards. Besides these, elves and apostles can cast magic. Magic is casted by Od which layes inside of spirits and souls.
Types
Elf Magic
Elves are capable of doing magical things, such as healing wounds or creating medicine with their dust from their wings, known as Elf Dust. Although their size generally limits their usefulness in combat, they may use a bright flash, acting as a flare to blind enemies temporarily, and carry small objects.
Witch Magic
Witches are capable of doing Natural Magic by using the four elementals and the Od. The Od Force is life and magical energy which produced by spellcaster and it is also called spiritual magnetism.
The list of the spells:
- Protection Spell: Schierke draws a circle with her rope and places four items to each corner: purifying salt, magical stone, a jar and a chunk. After that, she draws to air a pentagram by her wand and says "Adohe... Vahe... Adonai Tsuabaoto Eheiei Ahgura" to creates a pentagram-shaped shield from the pure light which protect inside the rope circle and repel the enemies.
- Fire Spell: Schierke uses her hair as a catalyst by puting it on the flow of Od to generate fire. She blows her hair to air, every hair burns and transforms to thin fire elementals. She used this spell to scare Trolls.
- Communication Spell: Schierke uses her hair to communicate her team mentally. By putting her hair on their fingers, all of them are unconsciously connected with the Od force that she produced. Also, for a person who has never practiced an image concretely, the flowing thoughts that have yet to be expressed with words will be obscure until they get used to it. If someone can master Mind Talk, it is possible to have a long distance communication.
- Talismans: Talismans are strong charms which are created by using the magic. There are many kind of talismans and many creator by as Schierke claimed Flora's talismans are the strongest among them. She can decreases effect of the Brand of Sacrifice, protect people and houses from dark spirits like Elf Caves. When Schierke charms a talisman, she says "Yodo Hei Vali Hei"; and then she prays for elemental lords to protect the church.
- Astral Projection: Schierke can travel between the world and the astral world. She can talk with the Elemental Lords and can also use their power. In this form, magic users have a special body made of light, which called "Luminious Body". With her astral body, Schierke can also fuses with Gutts' spirit which allows to her control his anger and Hellhound living his inside.
- Elemental Control: Schierke's stongest magic, she can communicate and talk with the spirits of the elementals and becomes completely an element. She has absolute control of element during the transformation.
- Mind Control: Schierke can manipulate a person's Od to confuse them and change their attentions. She can also paralyse them or change their behaviours.
Kushan Magic
Ganishka and Dhaiva are capable of doing Dark Magic also known as Kushan Magic (Kushan no Mahō). Dhaiva created dark magical monsters and even a Behelit via sacrificed human fleshes.
- Soul Possession: Basic ability of Kushan Magic is possesion of soul, especially animal souls. User first performs unique hand seal then enters the soul of animals and control their soul, body and behaviours. They can also add additional animal or human soul into the animals to create unique creatures such as Pishacha and Makara. Their shape and strength is altered after the magic.
- Man-Made Behelit: Unique behelit which created by Dhaiva after sacrificing many humans and apostles. He chained many of them which charm.
