The merrow in the sea attack the Sea God's tentacles while the Sea Horse bombards its body from above. In response, the Sea God summons a maelstrom around itself in an attempt to kill its attackers, but Roderick plans to use it to his advantage by riding the current in a circle around the Sea God while pelting it with cannon balls. Farnese's bulwark keeps the tentacles away from the ship.
Beneath the water, Isma swims to join the merrow. She manages to dodge several attacks by sea slugs and tentacles, but soon finds herself overwhelmed and surrounded. She is saved at the last moment by an adult merrow. Isma recognizes the merrow's voice, and begins to cry as she realizes that her savior is none other than her own mother.
Inside the Sea God, Guts has managed to stave off the most recent wave of attacking parasites. He is severely weakened and barely able to stand. He asks Schierke if any enemies remain, and by his asking this question Schierke deduces that Guts has been rendered nearly blind and deaf from overusing the Berserker Armor. He attempts to move towards the Sea God's heart, but cannot tell where it is because of how the sound of its heartbeat reverberates around its body. Eventually, Guts collapses.
Schierke begins to cry for Guts, but encourages him to get up and move, giving him directions towards the heart. He approaches it, but a strong couple of heartbeats from it causes Guts to spit up blood and fall down again. Taking the Sea God's increased heartbeat as a sign that it feels cornered, Guts forces himself to stand once more, but he falls flat on his back right afterwards, his senses gone and his body numb. Suddenly, both Guts and Schierke begin to hear singing from outside the Sea God's body.
The merrow have begun to sing in unison, and this alone is able to harm the Sea God.
