Charlotte (シャルロット Sharurotto) Beatrix Marie Rhody Wyndham, formerly known as the Princess of Midland. She fell in love with Griffith almost at first sight.

Appearance

Charlotte is a brunette with a skinny build, a pale complexion and blue eyes. Her long, curly hair is usually tied to hairstyles befitting medieval royalty, though on rare occasions she can be seen leaving it unkempt.

Personality

She was in love with Griffith at first sight and has become very faithful to him. Even trying to hide having sex with him from her father.

History

Charlotte is first introduced when the King of Midland pays Grifith and Guts a visit after their battle with the Immortal Zodd, and immediately becomes instrumental to Griffith's plans of obtaining his kingdom. To this end he assassinates Julius, her uncle, and his only child Adonis when the former fails to kill him with a poison arrow, and visits her often to have her fall for him.

After Guts defeated Griffith before leaving the Hawks, Griffith, angry and feeling betrayed, slept with Charlotte and was imprisoned and tortured for a year as a result. During that time, Charlotte continued to pine over Griffith and eventually was the one who provided the route for the Hawks to rescue him from prison. She accompanied the rescue party with her maid Anna, but was poisoned by a dart from one of the Bākiraka and was brought back to the king. Two years after the Eclipse, the king died of disease, Midland was conquered by the Kushans and she was taken prisoner by Ganishka with the view of becoming his wife to consolidate his rule over Midland.

Even in captivity, she spent all of her time making embroidery portraits of Griffith, dreaming of his return. Soon after the events at Albion, Griffith did return for her and used Nosferatu Zodd to fly her and Anna out of captivity as his apostle army kept Ganishka distracted. She is currently traveling with the new Band of the Hawk alongside Griffith. She recently declared The Band of the Hawk to be Midland's Regular Army after their resounding victory against the Kushans in Vritanis. She is now betrothed to Griffith. Sonia referred to her as the "Queen of the Ducks".

Anime and Manga differences

• In the anime series, Charlotte stayed behind, instead of accompanying the Band of the Hawk to Tower of Rebirth, to rescue Griffith.
• Her father's attempted assault on her is omitted from all subsequent adaptations, and consequently he does not rapidly age as he did in the manga.

• In the Anime series she is voiced by Yuri Shiratori in Japanese, and by Rachael Lillis in English.
• In the Berserk Film Trilogy she is voiced by Aki Toyosaki.
