Bazuso's first appearance was in Chapter K0. He appeared as a great menace to Guts' group when they were trying to conquer a fortress. When no-one seemed to be courageous enough to battle Bazuso, Guts came toward him with the objective of defeating him and wining the extra reward for beating the general. Guts and Bazuso began to fight in equal terms, but thanks to luck Guts broke his axe and finally killed him.
